The production of wines covered by the Appellation of Origin Tarragona will be made exclusively with the following varieties of Vitis Vinifera:

 This is a productive variety but sensitive to diseases like oidium or downy mildew. Its budding is slow so it is not affected by spring frost. It doesn?t take humidity very well.
The bunches are large and compact. The berries are medium sized, round, colour blue/black. It is a variety very suitable for aging due to the large amount of tannins it has. . It is generally accompanied by Garnacha and together they can reach a grading of up to 12 degrees. Complemented with tempranillo or garnacha they are ideal for aging. . These wines have an intense colour. |
