The production of wines covered by the Appellation of Origin Tarragona will be made exclusively with the following varieties of Vitis Vinifera:
Red |
Pinot Noir |
?Pinot? means pineapple and makes reference to the clustered bunches of this variety. It comes from France where it is cultivated in Burgundy and Champagne. The berries are small, black purplish colour and oval shaped. This variety is reluctant to be domesticated; its cultivation is difficult due to the fact that it is very sensitive to spring frost, excess humidity and to high temperatures. But it is vastly extended throughout the world. It produces elegant wines, alcoholic, delicate, with wild fruit and liquorice aromas. It adapts well to oak aging. |
