Ruta 2 Reus' Modernism to the Costa Daurada beaches

Reus is one of the most entrepreneurial cities in the country. The town centre is bustling with the commercial energy that has characterised the city over the centuries, reaching a peak during the late 19th century with the Modernist movement that left a number of spectacular buildings like casa Navas or the Institut Pere Mata, both well worth the visit. Reus was an important centre in the wine trade, leaving us today the Estació Enologia (winemaking Institute) and a number of leading companies in the wine business.

Visitors can go and taste the wines made by De Muller, one of the region's historic producers that was founded in Tarragona and later moved to Reus. Just a few kilometres away in the neighbouring Vila-Seca, and just a few hundred yards away from the sea and the nearby Port Aventura tourist park, we can visit Vinyes del Terrer and Clos Barenys, two projects born of their founders' passion for wine. In la Canonja, halfway between Reus and Tarragona, Celler La Boella has in recent years developed their cellar, along with a hotel, a restaurant and a delicatessen where we can fin their wines and olive oils. From La Boella the coastal tourist towns of Cambrils or Salou are just a short drive away.
